ECOG Code of Conduct
Our aim: “Enjoy the experience”
Our activities are intended to be enjoyable, social and supportive. Please help to provide a positive atmosphere for everyone.
By joining ECOG participants agree to follow this code of conduct:
· Treat everyone with respect and consideration. We value a friendly and inclusive atmosphere.
· Activities, routes and pace will be outlined in advance. Participants are asked to follow these and any requests from the event leader so that the group stays safe together.
· Wear/use appropriate clothing, footwear and equipment for the activity and conditions.
· Respect the environment, other people, and wildlife.
· We welcome people of all backgrounds and abilities. Discrimination, harassment or inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated.
· Whilst we are always happy to welcome beginners into the group, it should be noted that some events will require levels of fitness, skill or experience that may mean they are not suitable for all members.
· Dogs are welcome on some events at the event leader’s discretion, always provided they are well behaved and kept under control.
Members are also reminded of the BMC participation statement:
Climbing, hill walking and mountaineering can provide life-long physical, social and mental health benefits through exercise and adventure in amazing environments. The BMC recognises these activities involve a risk of personal injury or death. Participants should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement.
Safeguarding
In line with the BMC’s safeguarding policy, we are committed to providing a safe environment for all participants. Any concerns about safety or welfare should be reported whilst respecting the need for confidentiality.
